WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Carmella vs. Asuka.

Carmella was all confident early on and was great at playing her role. She went for a kick but Asuka caught it. Asuka spun her around but was slapped by the Champion, who said she wasn’t scared of her. Asuka didn’t like that and caught her with a series of kicks in the ropes, then knocked her off the apron to the floor with a running hip attack.

Carmella demanded her title belt and said she was the Champion and would do what she wanted. She acted as if he was going to walk out but was caught with a knee strike off the apron by Asuka. They battled outside on the apron near the ring post. Carmella pulled Asuka into it, stunning her, then tossed her into the ring. That was enough to score a two count.

Carmella locked in a cool submission hold, trapping Asuka’s arm. Carmella was really vocal mocking Asuka and was great at it. Asuka fought her way to her feet, reversed and went for the Asuka Lock. Carmella ducked a spinning backfist and kicked Asuka in the gut, then locked in a front facelock.

Asuka went to the ropes but Carmella kicked the ropes to stun her, then avoided a missile dropkick. Carmella’s leg was still snatched into a leg submission and the Smackdown Women’s Champion grabbed the ropes to break it. Asuka continued to build momentum and got angrier with every strike she was hit with. She finally exploded with a dropkick and a German suplex. Asuka nailed a hip attack for a two count.

Asuka charged the Champion, who dropped down and pulled the ropes open, causing Asuka to crash down to the floor. Asuka returned to the apron but was attacked and kicked back down to the floor off the apron. Carmella hit a dive to the floor and covered Asuka a two count. Asuka made a comeback when someone dressed like her came from under the ring.

Everything stopped as Asuka stared at this person. Carmella rolled her up for a two count. Asuka kicked up and nailed her with a kick. She turned her attention to the masked person, who revealed himself to be…JAMES ELLSWORTH.

Carmella kicked Asuka in the back of the head and scored the pin.

Your winner and still WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Carmella!

Carmella makes her way to the ring and she shows off her title belt.

Carmella says everyone wants to jump in the Carmella Bandwagon now that she is champ but she says they weren’t with her before she won the title so she does not care. She says she is not just the Princess of Staten Island any more. She is the moonwalking, trash talking, Princess of Smackdown. She says she waited for the perfect opportunity. She waited 287 long days. She says she seized the moment and took her rightful spot at the top of the women’s division.

She reminds everyone that she beat Charlotte Flair. She is one of the greatest in WWE History and she beat Charlotte on her own. The woman who broke Asuka’s streak . . . Carmella reminds us that she beat that woman. All she had to do beat Charlotte was to make sure she was blinded by her ego. Charlotte says in order to be the woman, you have beat the woman. Carmella reminds us that she is the woman. What she did last week was historic. It will be the biggest moment in all of women’s history.

Carmella calls for a tribute to her and we have a video package.

She says she is going to miss Frankie. She had it for 287 days but 287 days is nothing compared to how long she is going to keep Cleopatra. She says Mella is Money.

Charlotte Flair’s music interrupts and she is on the stage. Charlotte says it seems like your title reign is a lot like your memory . . . short. Your highlight reel is missing some big pieces of history. The only reason you had the briefcase was because of that chinless freak. You cashed in because of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Charlotte says she knows the dirtiest player in the game and game respects game. You capitalized on an opportunity and Charlotte congratulates her.

Charlotte says she has some words of wisdom. It is much harder to stay on the top than to get to the top. You have something of hers.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce make their way to the ring.

Billie tells Charlotte this is pathetic. You are blaming them for your failure? Billie tells Peyton to do it. Peyton does her Charlotte Flair impression. Peyton acts like Charlotte is a giant baby.

Billie says it was spot on and if she closed her eyes, she would think Charlotte was next to her. Billie says you asked for magic last week and you got it. The title disappeared from around your waist.

Peyton says that was a moment that will last forever. It was all because of them. Peyton says you are looking at the future and it is Iconic.

Charlotte takes off her ring robe and she goes after Billie and Peyton on the floor. Billie and Peyton double team Charlotte and send her into the ringside barrier and then kick her.

Becky Lynch comes out and goes after Billie and Peyton.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Five: Charlotte Flair (with Becky Lynch) versus Billie Kay (with Peyton Royce)

The mach is joined in progress and Charlotte chops Billie outside the ring. Billie avoids a chop but Charlotte with a forearm. Billie kicks Charlotte in the corner but Charlotte with a suplex. Billie with a forearm and she gets a near fall. Billie with an arm bar. Billie takes Charlotte back to the mat and holds on to the arm bar. Charlotte gets back to her feet but Billie with a short arm clothesline for a near fall. Billie with a kick to the ribs. Billie returns to the arm bar. Charlotte with a forearm but Billie pulls Charlotte to the mat by the hair. Peyton gets in a shot and Becky chases Peyton around the ring.

Billie kicks Charlotte in the corner. Peyton gets in another shot on Charlotte while the referee deals with Billie. Billie with a chin lock. Billie with forearms and then she chokes Charlotte in the corner. Billie with an arm bar. Charlotte with a forearm and a running Harley Race knee. Billie with a back drop for a near fall. Charlotte with chops. Charlotte with an Irish whip and chop followed by a knee drop to the back of the head. Billie blocks a neck breaker and hits Sole Food for a near fall. Billie escapes a slam and gets a near fall with a rollup. Charlotte with a boot and then she sets for the figure four leg lock and she bridges. Billie taps out.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

After the match, Carmella attacks Charlotte and Becky comes to make the save until Petyon and Billie stop Becky.

Asuka’s music plays and she makes her way to the ring and Carmella is frozen in place.

Carmella leaves and Asuka with Hip attacks and German suplexes. Becky, Charlotte, and Asuka work over Billie.

Charlotte Flair def. Carmella & Ruby Riott

Before Charlotte Flair defends the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a Lumberjack Match against Natalya at WWE Clash of Champions, The Queen battled Ruby Riott and Carmella at Naval Base San Diego. On SmackDown LIVE, Natalya helped The Riott Squad initiate a 3-on-1 assault on Charlotte until Naomi sprang to the rescue. Wisely, Charlotte entered Naval Base San Diego with Naomi at her side, as The Riott Squad and other Lumberjacks-in-waiting Lana and Tamina surrounded the ring.

While Triple Threat rules were in play, Riott and Carmella found it to be mutually beneficial to team up against The Queen. Displaying the true spirit of a champion, Charlotte not only managed to keep her opponents at bay, but also regained her focus following a distraction from Natalya, who was observing the match.

Although Ms. Money in the Bank and Ruby Riott showed a team effort, Carmella saw the opportunity to score a pinfall against Charlotte, first throwing Riott out of the ring and kicking her after a near-fall. Unfortunately for Carmella, the shift in attention allowed The Queen to recover and apply the Figure-Eight Leglock for the win.

Following the match, Charlotte addressed the service members in attendance, thanking them for their service and acknowledging they, especially the women who serve, are the true champions.
